Your Book Club can help.
As book club members, you know the pleasure of reading. Share that pleasure with others by supporting programs that help the 4 out of 10 Canadians that struggle daily as a result of low literacy.
This year’s focus for Book Club Champions for Literacy is on Toonies for Tutoring. Because our learners have varied needs, we need to support our Volunteer Tutors with additional training on available resources, learning styles & how best to address each learner’s special needs. Tutor training costs us roughly $120/year and the more tutor training funding available, the more tutors we can train and the more learners we can help.
How “Toonies for Tutoring” works:
Each member of your book club donates a toonie every time the book club meets.
One member is tasked with collecting the money and donating it to LV on a either monthly or quarterly basis – you choose which works best
Donations can be made through the website. Click on Donate and highlight “Book Club Champions” – and make your donation that way. Or drop by our office at #306 – 620 View Street and give us your donation in person.
